James Carney is a founder of Texture AI and associate professor at the London Interdisciplinary School, where he directs the Master's in Complex Systems and Problems programme.
With Texture AI, he has worked with clients like the BBC, Google, EssenceMediacom, and the Cabinet Office. He was an early adopter of LLMs, and worked with the dramatist Hannah da Silva on the BBC Radio 4 production, "An Artificially Intelligent Guide to Love", which was co-written with GPT-J in 2022.
His academic work focuses on the use of AI to diagnose mental illness from language samples. Commercially, his interest lies in helping clients blend their proprietary data with generative AI to create value. His research has previously been showcased by the BBC and the New York Times.
